Referral letter

You need a referral letter from your GP (or other medical specialist) in order to see most specialists.

You do not need a referral to see a

  • psychiatrist,
  • gynecologist,
  • dermatologist,
  • sexual health specialist,
  • pulmonologist (in cases of suspected tuberculosis),
  • ophthalmologist,
  • dentist,
  • trauma specialist (within the first 24 hours of the trauma occurring) or surgeon.

If you are covered by health insurance, but do not have a referral letter or you are looking to obtain health care services without having to wait, you can schedule an appointment with extra charge.
