Last year 4382 babies were born in East Tallinn Central Hospital

16. January 2017

East Tallinn Central Hospital Women's Clinic is the largest and oldest in Estonia.

East Tallinn Central Hospital Women’s Clinic started its work already in 1804. Today it is the largest clinic where 1/3 of Estonia’s babies are born yearly. Even different generations from same family have often been born there: grandmothers, their daughters and granddaughters.

In 2008 the Women’s Clinic has been honored with The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative ( BFHI ) by Unicef. So far the Clinic is the only one in Estonia with this recognition.

In summer 2016 East-Tallinn Central Hospital was accredited by the Hospital Recognition Committe of The European Board and Colledge of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. As a result The European Board and Colledge of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has honored the Department Of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of East Tallinn Hospital Women's Clinic as an accredited European Training Centre of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
